Previous Training for Stewards: “Winning the Tough Discipline case”

Management tries their hardest to make us pay for their short-staffing decisions. In this class, hear from experienced UAW grievance handlers and a labor attorney about our strategy for fighting tough discipline and discharge cases. You will learn how to prepare for attendance hearings, argue against insubordination write-ups, and test for “just cause”  — our strongest weapon against unfair discipline.

Previous Training for Stewards: “Dealing with Difficult Supervisors”

Supervisors have different strategies they use to put union members and representatives off, trip you up, or get around the contract. In this training, you will learn tried and true strategies to be prepared when management picks on you or another member, and how to effectively handle first-step grievances. Taught by two Stewards and a former Committeeperson.

Previous Training for Stewards: “Legal Rights of Union Representatives”

Our webinar “Legal Rights of Union Representatives” was taught by an experienced labor attorney and a UAW Shop Chair. Based on the bestselling book, The Legal Rights of Union Stewards, by Robert Schwartz.

This training covers the key labor law provisions you need to be an effective Steward or Committeeperson and protect yourself while doing it. You will learn the basics of your rights as a union representative, including the grievance process, the special status of union representatives, the right to information and more!
