Job Opening: UAW Member Action Organizer

We are seeking an experienced, committed organizer. This is a full-time position out of our Detroit office. Exceptionally well qualified candidates may be considered for remote work, especially if in the Midwest or willing to travel. 

Responsibilities

  • Worker Organizing Experience: Building relationships with and supporting the organizing of UAW members in our network, including rank-and-file members, stewards, and union officers.

  • Campaign Development and Meeting Facilitation: Turning issues members are facing and goals for our organization into concrete campaigns and programs. Facilitating meetings of members in our network to grow and direct our work.

  • Webinar and In-Person Training Skills: Developing curriculum, preparing member presenters, and facilitating educational training on contract enforcement, organizing, grievance handling, and similar topics. 

Qualifications

  • Previous organizing experience

  • Commitment to building a progressive labor movement

  • Motivation and creativity to handle largely self-directed work

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Proficiency with email, document editing, and spreadsheets

  • Ability to organize with workers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences

Pluses

  • Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply

  • Creative graphic design skills for social media graphics, flyers, etc.

  • Proficiency with social media, website editing, and email and text services

Compensation/Benefits

  • Annual salary of $60,000-65,000 commensurate with experience

  • Compensation for market health insurance

  • Generous vacation and PTO
