Job Opening: UAW Member Action Organizer
We are seeking an experienced, committed organizer. This is a full-time position out of our Detroit office. Exceptionally well qualified candidates may be considered for remote work, especially if in the Midwest or willing to travel.
Responsibilities
Worker Organizing Experience: Building relationships with and supporting the organizing of UAW members in our network, including rank-and-file members, stewards, and union officers.
Campaign Development and Meeting Facilitation: Turning issues members are facing and goals for our organization into concrete campaigns and programs. Facilitating meetings of members in our network to grow and direct our work.
Webinar and In-Person Training Skills: Developing curriculum, preparing member presenters, and facilitating educational training on contract enforcement, organizing, grievance handling, and similar topics.
Qualifications
Previous organizing experience
Commitment to building a progressive labor movement
Motivation and creativity to handle largely self-directed work
Strong writing and communication skills
Proficiency with email, document editing, and spreadsheets
Ability to organize with workers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
Pluses
Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply
Creative graphic design skills for social media graphics, flyers, etc.
Proficiency with social media, website editing, and email and text services
Compensation/Benefits
Annual salary of $60,000-65,000 commensurate with experience
Compensation for market health insurance
Generous vacation and PTO
