Sign the Pledge: Protect Our Vote
The right to directly elect our International Officers has been at the heart of our union’s progress in recent years. I pledge to protect and strengthen that right and to support Delegates for the 2026 Constitutional Convention who do the same.
Why do we need to protect our right to vote now?
Why do we need to protect our right to vote now? In 2021, UAW members voted overwhelmingly to elect our International Executive Board (IEB) officers via direct elections (“one member, one vote”). This referendum was mandated and supervised by a court-appointed Monitor who has overseen the UAW since May of 2021. The Monitor also supervised our first direct elections of IEB officers in 2022-2023.
The Monitorship is scheduled to end in January of 2027, unless the court grants an extension. Once the Monitorship ends:
There will be no requirement for independent supervision of our elections; election administration will fall to the IEB.
The membership’s decision to adopt direct elections could be overturned by delegates at future Constitutional Conventions.
The 2026 Convention is our opportunity to protect our vote for IEB Officers!

Pass a Local Resolution for the 2026 CoNstitutional Convention
In order for amendments to our UAW Constitution to be considered by delegates at the 2026 Constitutional Convention, they need to first be passed in Local Union Membership Meetings.
