United UAW Lead Continues in Regions 1A & 1D, and First National Candidate Laura Dickerson Cruises to Victory
Thursday marked the third day of the 2026 UAW Election ballot count, starting off with Region 1D in the morning and moving on to Region 1A in the afternoon. Friday, the last day of the count, will begin with Region 8 and end with Region 6.
Congratulations to Laura Dickerson, who was re-elected as one of three Vice Presidents! While the preliminary results are still unofficial and challenged ballots remain to be counted, Dickerson has a lead that could not be realistically overcome.
Region 1D (Michigan - central, western, and northern parts of the state, including the Upper Peninsula)
In Region 1D, Shawn Fain won a supermajority of the vote for President at 69.3%. Brandon Campbell also received just over two thirds of the vote, at 67.8%, for Secretary-Treasurer. United UAW candidates Laura Dickerson (24.4%), Kevin Gotinsky (21.5%), and Ryan Hiestand (20.1%) also received majority support in Region 1D.
Region 1D represents mostly auto workers, including large GM plants like Flint Assembly and Lansing Delta Township, as well as many parts manufacturers like Nexteer and American Axle. The United UAW slate received some of their strongest support at American Axle Local 2093 and GM Locals 651 and 167.
Region 1A (Michigan - Washtenaw and Monroe counties, most of Wayne County, and parts of Detroit)
Shawn Fain received 71.8% of the vote for President in Region 1A. In the race for Secretary-Treasurer, Brandon Campbell won 70.1% of the vote, while Vice President Candidates Laura Dickerson, Kevin Gotinsky, and Ryan Hiestand received 28.1%, 21.6%, and 19.7%, respectively.
Region 1A also represents mostly auto workers, including large Ford plants like the Dearborn Rouge Complex, Michigan Assembly, and Flat Rock Assembly. The United UAW slate received majority support among the amalgamated Locals 600, 900, and 3000 representing these plants. Public sector, healthcare, and office and professional locals in the region also voted with majority support for the United UAW slate.
Counts for Regions 6 and 8 will take place throughout the rest of Friday. Volunteer election observers with the United UAW slate will continue reporting unofficial results for the rest of the count. Follow the live results as the count continues.
