In Regions 2B and 1, United UAW Slate Builds on Strong Lead
On Wednesday, the second day of the 2026 UAW Election vote count, ballots were counted from Regions 4 and 2B. Thursday’s count began with Region 1 and will later move to 1D. The preliminary results from Regions 2B and 1 show the United UAW slate building upon their strong lead.
Congratulations to Dave Green, who won the race for Region 2B Regional Director, and to LaShawn English, who was re-elected Region 1 Regional Director. Preliminary results show them with 69.8% and 66.1% of the vote respectively — leads too large to be realistically overcome by the remaining challenged ballots.
Region 2B (Ohio and Indiana)
Shawn Fain won supermajority support in Region 2B, with 67.5% of the vote for President. Brandon Campbell received 68.4% for Secretary-Treasurer. The three United candidates for UAW Vice President — Laura Dickerson, Kevin Gotinsky, and Ryan Hiestand — received 23.6%, 21.5%, and 20.2% of the vote, respectively.
Region 2B is home to several large locals across the Big 3, as well as auto parts manufacturing and amalgamated locals including healthcare and professional workers. Some of the United UAW slate’s strongest results were at Ford’s Ohio Assembly and Cleveland Engine plants, as well as GM’s Marion Plant.
Region 1 (Michigan - Huron, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties, part of Wayne County, and Canada)
In Region 1, the United UAW slate received a smaller share of the vote than in the other regions counted so far, but still won clear majority support. Shawn Fain received 57.7% and Brandon Campbell 55.6%. VP candidates Laura Dickerson, Kevin Gotinsky, and Ryan Hiestand received 21.4%, 19.4%, and 16.2%, respectively.
Region 1 includes much of Detroit and the suburbs to its north, along with a small part of Ontario, Canada. Compared to other regions, it has a much greater share of Stellantis workers, though it also includes GM, Ford, auto parts manufacturing, public sector, professional, and gaming workers. The United UAW slate performed particularly well among workers at GM’s Factory Zero, Ford’s Sterling Stamping plant, and across plants in amalgamated Local 400.
Region 1D is up next to be counted and likely to take up the remainder of the day.
Volunteer election observers with the United UAW slate will continue reporting unofficial results for the rest of the count. Follow the live results as the count continues.
