With Region 4 Counted, United UAW Lead Continues
With preliminary results in from Region 4, along with yesterday’s from Regions 9 and 9A, the United UAW slate is far in the lead. Congratulations to United UAW candidate Lucas DeSpain, who won the race for Region 4 Director overwhelmingly (77.4%)! While these results are unofficial and challenged ballots remain to be counted, DeSpain has built a lead that cannot realistically be overcome by the remaining vote.
Region 4 (Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado)
The Region 4 vote count began last night and concluded this morning. In preliminary results (excluding challenged ballots), Shawn Fain leads with 72.2% of the vote for President, and Brandon Campbell has won a staggering 76.2%. United UAW candidates for Vice President Laura Dickerson (27.0%), Kevin Gotinsky (23.2%), and Ryan Hiestand (21.9%) maintain an impressive lead in the 11-way race for three VP positions.
Members of this region work mostly in auto and agricultural implement manufacturing. The United UAW slate saw some of its strongest results from the large Ford and GM locals, holding a steady lead across large John Deere and Caterpillar locals as well.
Volunteer election observers with the United UAW slate will continue reporting unofficial results throughout tomorrow and Friday. Keep up to date with the live results as the ballot count continues today, and see the preliminary results here.
